A modern approach

At Peled Surgery, Dr. Peled specialize in assisting patients who have not found relief through traditional treatments. Dr. Peled’s expertise extends to recognizing nerve compression patterns that are common in chronic headache and migraine sufferers. With years of experience in addressing nerve compression in various regions of the body, Dr. Peled’s approach involves a meticulous evaluation to identify any peripheral nerve involvement in the head or neck contributing to these symptoms. Through a combination of detailed patient history, comprehensive physical examination, and targeted diagnostic nerve blocks, he aims to uncover and address the underlying factors behind chronic headache and migraine conditions with precision and care.
Dr. Peled’s successful results confirmed his choice to focus on helping people with chronic headaches and migraines as my main career goal. Over 39 million Americans have been diagnosed with migraines. Furthermore, more than 6.5 million Americans (and many more people globally) are afflicted by chronic migraines, those occurring more than 15 days/month! It has been and continues to be my privilege to make a difference in these patients’ lives.

In 2007, Dr. Peled helped found a peripheral nerve surgery institute here in San Francisco where he served as Director and Chief Plastic & Peripheral Nerve Surgeon. Working with his wife Anne, a talented oncoplastic surgeon, they have pioneered a novel operation that is able to restore/preserve sensation in women undergoing mastectomy and implant-based breast reconstruction. Dr. Peled has now applied these same surgical techniques and principles to the transgender population to restore/preserve sensation in those patients undergoing gender-affirming top surgery. He has significant experience with operations designed to reduce pain/restore sensation in patients suffering from neuropathy due to diabetes, chemotherapy, and thyroid disorders. Ziv has also treated many patients with various forms of nerve trauma as well as many other types of nerve disorders.
Dr. Peled has authored and co-authored over 50 manuscripts and book chapters on all aspects of plastic surgery and recently co-edited a book entirely dedicated to the surgical treatment of chronic headaches. He has presented his work as well as taught other surgeons at numerous national/international meetings. Dr. Peled also reviews manuscript submissions for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the world’s most-respected and read plastic surgery journal and is an Associate Editor for its open access counterpart, PRS-Global Open.
